About Me

Hello! My name is Jen Sutherland, and I am a freshman at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, where I am pursuing a degree in psychology. I graduated from Aaron Academy in 2013 with honors, having attended Tutorials for three years. I am wanting to teach art over the summer because I am passionate about it, and I believe I can make class interesting, engaging, and educational. And as a former high school student and also current college student, I can personally attest to how difficult and even intimidating the subject of English can be, which is why I want to also teach what knowledge I have of writing, revising, and editing excellent papers.

My current hometown is Gallatin, but I grew up in White House. I took art lessons under Maggie Puccini for nearly six years. In early high school, I drifted away from art for awhile, and picked up writing instead. However, in my senior year, my love of art was revived through a new medium - vintage posters, specifically for the yearbook class at Aaron Academy Tutorials. I learned that I enjoyed typography and, in a way, advertisement, through making these posters that you can view for yourself here. I did continue to write, and it still remains a favorite hobby of mine.

In the fall, I will be returning to UT to continue my education as a sophomore. As of currently, in conjunction with teaching, I have set up an Etsy shop for my homemade pillows.

Thank you so much for taking the time to visit my page. I would love to talk to you a bit more personally, so do feel free to contact me accordingly.

Auf weidersein,

J.
